“I want to make sculptures that are organic, alive, that bring the substance out of matter.  Sculptures that talk, like sages, about the grand meaning of existence, about what is sacred and eternal in man.” Nova took your breath away.  He was bold, forceful, full of spirit and good will.  He filled the room with his essence.  These qualities no doubt help keep him alive during his harrowing 28 day journey on foot from Communist Romania across Yugoslavia and on to Italy…crossing two heavily guarded borders, wounded, almost losing his life, but not his indomitable spirit. Once in America, Nova wanted to repay destiny for the gift of new beginnings in the country of his childhood dreams.  This began an exciting period of artistic activity that spanned four decades and culminated in a movement called “Integral Art”. Nova’s Integral Art is a fusion of art, life and nature.  It is expressed in towering abstract sculptures, murals, paintings, models for post-modern cities and residential habitats with a small footprint on the earth, leaving breathing room for the “lungs of the planet” .  His elliptical house is one such example.  Finally there are Nova’s philosophical writings, which give us perhaps the most candid idea of what motivated this unique artistic force. All this reached full culmination in Nova’s Ark Project, a sculpture park for the public where 94 acres of preserved land, treated by Nova as one huge canvas, is populated with his monumental sculptures set in open fields, horse pastures, celebration spaces and galleries.  Here art, man and nature are on equal footings, just as Nova believed they must be. Nova’s partners of decades, Tundra Wolf and Luna Shanaman, continue to keep Nova’s dream alive… working to preserve and expose Nova’s original works while adding new and surprising sculptures based on Nova’s original designs. Nova choose the path less traveled in the art realm.  He stayed in his world of Integral Art, fabricating work after work to express his philosophy and spirit.  He worked every day, either designing or fabricating works for the Sculpture Park.  Little time was left for cultivating gallery relations.   Still, there were exhibits, commissions from collectors, and showings.  If you wish to see Nova’s bio/resume, please contact:  novasarkproject@gmail.com  VIEW PRESS ARTICLES OF NOVA NOVAS MISSION STATEMENT
