CITIES OF THE FUTURE - NOW Since his early years, Nova was fascinated with the code-program of nature and its patterns in creating the myriad forms in the universe.  Crossing the Atlantic by cargo ship from Europe to America after his daring escape from Communist Romania, he spent many hours on deck thinking about the waves, curves and undulations that make up the natural order and that he had instinctively used in his early paintings as an art student. When Nova arrived in the United States, he began using these rhythmic forms extensively in his art and architecture.  He developed the “cosmic brick,” a habitat for humans based on the sphere.   These habitats were combined in colorful, organic and functional groupings to form whole cities - cities of the 21st century. Nova’s cities are conceived to offer all inhabitants light, air, view and rapid access to the surrounding nature.  There are three basic models:  the earth city, ocean city and cosmic city.  The essential element of all three designs is the cosmic brick.  This new-style series of interlocking habitats would be produced cost-effectively in series by factories, and then adapted for use in any one of the three cities.
